FACULTY: The faculty comprises highly qualified experts and professionals from the field of Education, Special Education, Psychiatry, Social Work, Psychology, and Medical fraternity.
SYLLABUS: The program consists of a balance of theory and practice distributed throughout the two semesters in the academic year.
PART A – THEORY
PAPER I – FOUNDATIONS IN SPECIAL EDUCATION
This paper helps the students to understand the definition, objectives, and goals of special education along with integrated /inclusive education. It gives them an understanding of the several types of exceptional children like, slow learners, gifted children, and children with behavior disorders.
PAPER II – DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY:
This paper gives insight into growth and development and the various aspects of development from childhood to adulthood.
PAPER III – EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY:
Paper III gives students knowledge about the meaning, definition, and scope of educational psychology, process, and case study.
PAPER IV – PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING AND ASSESSMENT:
Paper IV focuses on the meaning, types, and areas of assessment, the different tools and methods used, understanding of different psychological tests, and educational tests. Students will learn how to diagnose between specific learning disability and slow learners. Understanding test reports and report writing is also an important part of this paper.
PAPER V – REMEDIAL/ENHANCEMENT EDUCATION:
Paper V throws light on the meaning/ definition/ need and scope of remedial education; its importance, and different remediation methods. This paper provides information about the management of individuals with special needs and the numerous services available.
PAPER VI – GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING:
Paper VI discusses the importance of guidance and counseling along with educational guidance.
PART B – PRACTICUM:
Our Practicum involves an array of interesting activities ranging from practice teaching, presentations, making teaching aids, remedial kits, manuals, and folders, and attending workshops/ seminars to role plays and case studies. The practicum also involves a minor research project that needs to be presented by the students.
